Abstract

1397015 Alkoxylated carbonamides and sulphonamides BAYER AG 19 April 1973 [21 April 1972] 18954/73 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] Antistatic compounds of the formula wherein m denotes an integer, n is 1 or 2, R denotes H or methyl, R 1 denotes aryl or straight or branched alkyl, X denotes -CO- or -SO 2 -, B denotes C 1-2 alkylene or an arylene radical of the formula R 2 denotes H, F, Cl, Br or alkyl, R 3 denotes H, NH 2 , NO 2 , CN, CF 3 , Cl or a radical of the formula A<SP>1</SP> denotes R 4 O-, (R 4 ) 2 N-, R 4 COO-, R 4 denotes alkyl, aryl, alkylaryl or arylalkyl, R 5 denotes straight or branched chain alkylene, A denotes A<SP>1</SP> or R 4 -N =, and Y denotes aryl, straight or branched alkyl or, when n is 1, a group of the formula are prepared by reacting a polyether diol or alkoxylation product of the formula (wherein M denotes an alkali metal) with a compound of the formula Hal-B-X-N(R 1 )Y (wherein Hal denotes F, Cl or Br) in the absence of moisture. The value of m is preferably from 1 to 150. If desired nitro groups in the reaction products may be subsequently reduced to amino groups by hydrogenation. The above antistatic agents may be added to dimethylformamide solutions of acrylonitrile further containing sodium methallylsulphonate and either methylacrylate or vinylidene chloride, from which threads having reduced surface resistance may be spun.
