Abstract

1396953 Moulding a building module HOUSING SYSTEMS Inc 26 May 1972 [26 May 1971] 25035/72 Heading B5A A mould for casting a concrete building module comprises external and internal mould parts 93, 96 mounted on a base 92 and arrangeable to define therebetween the casting space, the external mould portion 93 being pivoted to the base 92 so as to be able to move downwardly away from the casting space, and at least the foot of the internal mould portion 96 being movable inwardly away from the casting space, to facilitate removal of the cast structure when it is lifted out of the mould by hoisting means for transfer to a desired location. The internal mould portion 96 is supported by a wedge-like footing 97, 98 and toggles 101, so that it may move inwardly and upwardly. Mould portions 93 and 96 define walls and a further mould portion 100 has the ceiling cast thereon. The internal mould portion 96 has slidable wedge shaped corner sections (Fig. 4, not shown) to allow inward movement. Prior to casting, such items as window and door frames, sprayed on foamed polyurethane insulation, reinforcement, conduits, and wallboard may be placed in the casting space. Anchorages for coupling to the hoisting means (Fig. 8, not shown) may also be cast in the structure, and may include rods in the walls with screw-threaded connectors.
