Abstract

1396853 Air filter; centrifugal separator ASBESTOS GRADING EQUIPMENT CO (SOUTH AFRICA) PTY Ltd 17 July 1973 [21 July 1972] 34002/73 Headings BIT and B2P An air filter comprises a central inlet chamber 7 from which partially cleaned air exits at A into the top of filter chamber 3, where inward-flow filter bags 6 are arranged in one or more annular arrays and open via holes 5 in tube plate 2 into filtered air chamber 4. Rotary arm 15 and blower 22 deliver jets of filtered air through nozzles 14 to clean successive bags by reverse flow, the downward flow of air prevailing in chamber 3 assisting settling of dust therein. Duct 8 delivers air into chamber 7 so as to induce cyclonic separation therein, and chamber 7 may have a conical floor 20 with a central aperture or an inverted conical floor 30 with a peripheral aperture to discharge dust. Chamber 3 has a dust discharge valve 19. In Fig. 1 (not shown) chambers 3 and 7 have flat floors with scrapers directing dust to outlets 18 and (10).
