Abstract
1396707 Extrusion coating core guide DELTA ENFIELD CABLES Ltd 3 Nov 1972 [5 Nov 1971] 51599/71 Heading B5A In the extrusion around a sector shaped aluminium conductor of a thermoplastics sheathing from a circular extrusion die orifice 12, the conductor is centred within the orifice 12 during delivery thereto through the closely fitting bore of an inner plastics part 17 of a mandrel 14. The part 17 is retained within the mandrel 14, in abutment with a mandrel shoulder 18, by a threaded ring 19 facilitating replacement by casting of the part 17 within the mandrel 14 using the conductor as a former for the inner part bore. The casting resins may comprise epoxide or polyester, and alternative resins may comprise polyamide, polyimide, or polyacetal. The resins may be filled with low friction material such as molybdenum disulphide, PTFE powder, and carbon fibre with or without whiting, clay, or silica flour filler.
