Abstract
1396400 Ingots IRKUTSKY FILIAL VSESOJUZNOGO NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVATELSKOGO I PROEKTNOGO INSTITUTA ALJUMINIEVOI MAGNIEVOI I ELEKTRODNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI 7 July 1972 [7 July 1971] 32016/72 Heading B3F A metal ingot or pig having a generally trapezoidal cross-section has, on each of its oblique side faces, at least one tooth 7 and at least one recess 8. When a plurality of such ingots are stacked as shown in Fig. 13, the tooth or teeth of one ingot engage in the recess or recesses of an adjacent ingot which is inverted relative to the first. The recess may consist of a groove 11 defined by side surfaces 12 and the inner surface (9) of the tooth 7. Each side surface 4 may be provided with one tooth and recess located midway along said surface, or there may be a tooth and recess provided at each end of the surface 4. In the latter case, the tooth 7 may be partly formed by shoulders 17 provided at the ends of the ingot, Figs. 9 to 12 (not shown). The smaller of the two parallel faces of the ingot may be provided with flanges 14 and grooves 15 arranged in a staggered manner so that, in a stack of ingots, the flange on an ingot in one horizontal row engages a groove on an ingot in an adjacent row when one of said ingots is inverted relative to the other.
