Abstract
1396392 Retractive switch NSF Ltd 13 June 1973 [13 June 1972] 27545/72 Heading H1N A retractive switch having a safety catch to prevent inadvertent operation of an electrically powered appliance comprises an actuator member 12 slidable within an insulating casing 11 to close switch contacts 20 against a bias spring 16 acting outwardly and longitudinally of the casing. The portion 12c of the actuator member lying within the trunking portion 11c of the casing is provided with an elongated recess 12d one end of which abuts a stop 11e in the retracted OFF position of the switch which recess then receives the end 14a of a catch member 14 which is longitudinally slidable, and perpendicularly to the actuator movement, within an extension 11f of the casing and is biased by a spring 17 towards engagement with the actuator member 12. A flanged knob 14d which may be ultrasonically welded to the shank 14c of the catch member 14 enables the catch member to be withdrawn before the actuator member 12 can be depressed to close the switch.
