Abstract

1396165 Rotary harrows J R CLOVER 10 Aug 1972 37407/72 Heading A1B A rotary harrow 18 is pivoted at 20 to the power lift links 16 and to the upper link 14 which operates the tractor automatic draft control (only control spring 12 is shown), and the harrow 18 is also supported by a skid 22 which is pivoted at 27 to the harrow housing 26 but held in a selected position by chains 48 and springs 54 so as to determine the operating depth of the harrow 18. Minor adjustments in the operating depth are effected by means of the automatic draft control. The harrow 18 discharges tilled soil rearwards at a rate faster than the speed of the tractor, and the skid 22 levels it. The proportion of the harrow weight applied to the skid 22 may be adjusted by varying the draft load setting of the automatic draft control. Each chain 48 is secured in quick-release fashion to the skid 22 by engaging one link in a slot and retaining it by means of the next link. Pivot pins 27 may be removed to permit access to the harrow rotor.
