Abstract

1,101,702. Seed drills; harrows. BAMFORDS Ltd. 15 Oct., 1964 [18 Oct., 1963], No. 41174/63. Headings A1B and A1D. A seed drill of the kind described in Specification 788,214 has attached thereto a harrow the tines of which effect furrow closing. The harrow comprises a sub-frame 19 to which a tine carrying frame 29 is pivoted at 31 for movement in a vertical plane. Movement of the tines is controlled by two rods 34 passing through plates 33 mounted on the frame, and extending through apertures in abutment plates 35 fixed to the sub-frame. Compression springs 37 on each rod engage the abutment plates and are held between collars 38 which are adjustable longitudinally of each rod. Owing to these springs the tines and their frame in operation will be caused to vibrate by impact of the tines with irregularities in the ground. The seed drill is adapted to be mounted on the three point linkage of a tractor, and it may comprise wheels by means of which it is driven, or drive may be effected by the tractor p.t.o. shaft. The harrow may comprise one (Fig. 6 or two (Fig. 2) rows of tines.
