Abstract

1395571 Mixing A P VAKUUMTECHNIK GmbH 12 April 1972 [17 April 1971] 16793/72 Heading B1C Apparatus for mixing and delivering flowable materials comprises a mixing container 1 having a lower discharge region 9 and a connection 65 for a vacuum pump 32, and a reciprocable mixing member 2 carrying a closure member 4 engageable in a discharge bore 5. Material to be mixed is charged through a closable inlet 29 and the mixing member 2 is reciprocated by fluid pressure means 39-45, the closure member 4 being adjusted to a lowermost position relative to the mixing member 2 by means of an adjustable screw connection 52-56, so that it remains in sealing relationship with a sleeve 12 defining the bore 5. The material is cycled through bores 34 and pipes 36, the pump 32 acting to remove air, while a heating jacket 23 allows a required temperature to be maintained. For discharge, the closure member 4 is withdrawn into a bore 46 of the mixing member 2. Reciprocation of the member 2 allows the material to enter the bore 5 for discharge preferably through a one-way valve 14, the adjusted position of the member 4 governing the quantity delivered at each stroke. A channel 58 and passage 59 facilitate the introduction of flushing medium after use of the apparatus e.g. in the case of hardenable materials.
