139,548. Parkes, S. R. Jan. 6, 1919. Striking-plates and staples for locks and latches. -A four-sided lock staple is formed by pressing a sheet-metal blank, preferably of the form shown, so that the parts a' are bent down to form the ends of the box and again bent at right-angles to position the fixing-lugs a<2>, the part a<5> bent down to form one side, and the part a<4> to form the other side and furnish a projecting extension for fixing. The blank is slotted at a<6> to receive the latch or latch and bolt, ani is pressed up at a<7> to form a striker, the part a', Fig. 4, being bent under the raised striker to close the gap.
