Abstract

1395240 Floating covers for tanks WILLIAM HARE Ltd 14 Sept 1973 [15 June 1972] 27959/72 Heading E1T A floating cover C, Fig. 1, for a liquid storage tank having a fixed roof comprises a two-dimensional framework made up from sealed tubes 2 in a common plane to form a plurality of interconnected triangular array of tubes which carry a sheeting disposed thereon. Each tube is sealed at its ends by a cap or plug welded thereto and a flange is mounted on each cap whereby the tubes can be secured by bolts or rivets to a circular connecting plate 10 apertured at its centre to accommodate a telescopically adjustable leg. Light metal laths 28 are mounted on the framework which is then covered by thin metal strips or foil 36, 38 Fig. 3 held in position by clamping strips 40. For minor details concerning the peripheral seal, telescopic legs, man-hole cover, sampling funnel and anti-rotation cables the Specification and remaining drawings (not shown), should be referred to.
