Abstract

1395144 Fastenings; hinges PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 7 Feb 1974 05736/74 Headings E2B and E2F [Also in Division F4] The light-transmitting cover 11 of a lighting fitting is fastened to the housing 1 against a resilient gasket 5 by means of at least one clip comprising first, second, third and fourth members 13-16 joined together in series by three hinges 17-19, the first and fourth members being releasably fastened to the housing and cover, respectively, and the second and third members being adapted to form a toggle fastening. When the toggle fastening is released the cover 11 is suspended below the housing 1 and can be swung to an open position. The member 13, which is made of stainless steel strip, is attached to a flange 7 on the housing by engaging the hooked lower end 30 of the member over the lower edge of the flange and snapping the upper end of the member over the upper end of the flange, whilst the member 16, which is made of similar material, is attached to the rim 12 of the cover 11 by inserting the hinge 19 into the recess 33 beneath the rim and forcing the member over the rim until a lip 35 on the cover snaps into a window formed in the member. Several similar clips are disposed along one side of an elongated fitting, the other side being fastened by clips of identical construction except for the omission of the member 16.
