Abstract

1394897 Load handling pallets; packaging NIPPON ZEON CO Ltd 4 July 1972 [13 July 1971 6 Dec 1971 (2) 27 April 1972] 31182/72 Headings B8A and B8C A collapsible box pallet comprises a flat pallet 1 provided with a collar 6a secured thereto to retain side and end panels 7, 7a. The flat pallet comprises a plurality of spaced parallel base boards, a plurality of parallel spaced bearers 3 arranged transverse of the base members, longitudinal boards 4 arranged along the upper surface of the bearers to overlap the sloped ends 3<SP>1</SP> of the bearers to provide surfaces for engagement by lifting ropes, and a plurality of parallel spaced deck boards 5 arranged in vertical alignment with the base boards 2. The construction of the flat pallet is such that vertical passageways 18 are formed between the boards to receive the tines 19<SP>1</SP> of a loading apparatus 19 which supports a bottom board 9 of the pallet at the level of the upper edges of the sides and end 7, 7a so that a first layer 20 of a load may be deposited therein and then stepwise lowers said board as successive layers are deposited thereon. The side and end members of the pallet have upper edge engaging members 11, 12 and are held in the erect position by a plurality of straps 15, 16, 17 passing around the pallet. In a further embodiment, Fig. 11 (not shown), corner members 13a are provided for the side and end members. The corner member being releasably secured to the upper edge members and with the frame. In a further embodiment, Fig. 12 (not shown), a one piece upper edge member is provided which fits over the upper ends of the corner members to retain same in position.
