Abstract
1,257,297. Load handling pallet. M. E. SHELL. 11 Feb., 1970, No. 6501/70. Heading B8H. In a method of handling sacks of particulate material, the sacks are manually formed into a stack 20 upon a pair of spaced, parallel sleeves 22 adapted to receive the forks 31 of a fork lift truck. The stack so formed may then be transported to a storage area where it is deposited to rest on the sleeves. When the stack is required it is withdrawn from the storage area and deposited upon a single load supporting member 41 between a pair of downwardly converging stabilizing walls 45 with the sleeves 22 arranged on opposite sides of the member. The height of the member 41 is greater than that of the sleeves whereby the sleeves may be withdrawn from beneath the stack. The stack may then be raised by the fork of a fork lift truck and deposited on a vehicle &c. without the sleeves. Where it is desired to stack the stacks 20 in the storage area a frame 60 comprising longitudinal members 61 and transverse members 62, 63 is positioned across the uppermost sacks of a lower layer of stacks to receive and support the sleeves of an upper layer of stacks. The sleeves, Fig. 4 (not shown), each comprise upper and lower panels (23) and side members (25).
