Abstract

1359758 Load handling pallets; unstacking drums from pallets LUBRIZOL CORP 10 May 1972 21919/72 Headings B8C and B8H Apparatus for handling empty drums 11 stacked on a pallet 1 comprises a turntable 18 on which a loaded pallet may be placed and a receiving member 21 which is positioned to engage and support a stack of drums whilst a securing strap 12 is removed. The member 21 is slidably and pivotably mounted on a supporting framework 25 to move an unstrapped stack away from the pallet and then pivot through 90 degrees to deliver the drums to a conveyer for feeding to a filling machine (not shown). The pallets, Fig. 2 (not shown) comprise a deck of spaced planks (4) secured to bearers (3) with further planks (5) also secured to the bearers (3) to form a lower deck. Longitudinally extending strips (6) are secured to the upper deck to prevent rolling of the drums and hooks 10 are provided to receive opposite ends of the securing straps 12.
