Abstract

1394810 Wire clamping devices B J R CHRISTENSEN 9 Jan 1974 [23 Jan 1973] 01080/74 Heading E2B A lamp suspension device adapted to clamp an electric wire comprises a substantially discshaped support member 1 provided with a radial slot 11 extending to the edge of the member, a substantially disc-shaped locking member 7 rotatably mounted on the member 1 and having a radial slot 12 which extends to the edge of the member and which in a first position of the member is axially aligned with the slot of the member 1 while in a second position thereof the slot defines jointly with the slot 11 a central aperture for receiving the electric wire. One of the members is provided with at least one movably mounted clamping jaw 13 which is actuated by turning of the locking member 7 from the first to the second position whereby an edge portion of the jaw moves into the central aperture to reduce the opening thereof. As shown, the member 7 is retained on the member 1 by interengaging arcuate flanges 6 and 9 and the jaws 13, 14 have slots 21, 22 in which engage pins 8 carried by the member 7 whereby turning of the member causes the jaws to pivot inwardly about pins 15, 16. The jaws are formed with slits 20 to render the edge portions 19 of the recesses 18 resilient. In modifications, the guide pins 8 may be carried by the support member I the jaws 13, 14 being pivotally mounted on the member 7 or the jaws may be slidably mounted on the member 1 or 7 the movement of each thereof being controlled by two guide pins and two slots; the two members may be provided with co-operating locking cams to resist relative turning of the members.
