A clamping device comprises two arms 1 pivoting on a stationary beam 4 and urged by a spring 8 to a clamping position with the ends 2 of the arms 1 engaging a member 6 slidable in a recess 7 in a guide 5 secured to the upper surface of the beam 4, the clamp being released by rotating a cam disc 9 on a pin 10 in the beam 4 and rotatable by a handle 11. The ends 2 of the arms may have a sharp edge or a rounded flange which may. be embossed.
