Abstract

1394162 Bookbinding RESEARCH ASSOCIATION FOR THE PAPER & BOARD PRINTING & PACKAGING INDUSTRIES 25 Sept 1972 [13 Oct 1971] 47653/71 Heading B6A Open loops 8 of metal wire, e.g. aluminium, brass or mild steel, and at least partially coated with a hot-melt adhesive, are inserted along the last fold lines of a plurality of a signatures 1, the free ends 10 of the loops projecting from the outer edges of the fold lines and being bent against the outer edges before the signatures are bound between covers, by the application of further hot-melt adhesive, to form a book. The loops may have a coloured coating to match the pages of the signature and may be inserted by a wire stitching machine before the last folds are made.
