Abstract

1394150 Fluid-pressure servomotor systems CONSIGLIO NAZIONALE DELLE RICERCHE 11 Oct 1973 [11 Oct 1972] 47513/73 Heading G3P A servo-mechanism, comprising an electric stepping motor 1, rotary hydraulic motor 2 and a valve 3 controlling flow to the latter, includes pinions 4, 5 on the shafts of motors 1, 2 respectively, meshing with a common pinion 6 carried by a bifurcated member 7 attached to the piston rod 8 of control valve 3 to provide follow-up action. In the neutral position of control valve 3 the axes of pinions 4, 5, 6 lie in a common plane, as shown. Should an input pulse now be applied to motor I to cause pinion 4 to rotate by an angular step, pinion 6 pivots about its point of engagement with pinion 5, thus effecting an axial displacement of control piston rod 8. The resulting rotation of motor 2 causes pinion 6 to pivot about its point of engagement with pinion 4 until the control piston is restored to its neutral position. The spacing between the pinion axes is adjustable to permit the pinions to be changed to give different transmission ratios. The hydraulic motor 2 may be of radial piston type, the shaft output of which causes movement of a numerically controlled machine tool.
