Abstract
1393901 Moisture-sensitive transducers MOLECULAR CONTROLS Ltd 4 May 1972 [24 May 1971] 16643/71 Heading GIN A moisture-sensitive transducer comprises a short length of aluminium wire which for some two-thirds of its length is flattened as at 4 Fig. 7 polished and anodised by dipping in a solution of sodium or potassium hydroxide. A thin line of colloidal silver 10 is painted on the oxide layer and connected by a blob 9 of conductive cement to a lead wire 8. The round end of the wire is fixed in a metal tube 6. The unit constitutes a capacitor whose aluminium oxide dielectric absorbs moisture to vary the capacitance accordingly.
