Abstract

1393650 Water tube boiler RAYPAK Inc 30 May 1973 [31 May 1972] 25628/73 Heading F4A A boiler comprises a plurality of tubes 20, 22 extending between tube sheets 28, 28<SP>1</SP> which comprise a plurality of tube sheet sections 34- 38 joined by means allowing relative movement in the direction of the tube axes in response to differential expansion of the tubes. Adjacent sections may be joined by a link 74, which may be of stainless steel, positioned in grooves in the sections, or by a seal of silicone rubber or other resilient material. The tubes are arranged in two staggered horizontal rows and have fins 126. Water passes from inlet header 44 to outlet header 64 through the tubes and via headers 46, 52, 56, the tube sheet sections each providing a surface of a respective header, which surface has a copper lining 128, Fig. 7, extending beyond the end of the tube, and a flanged copper ring 138 is placed between the extension of the lining and a flange 134 of the covering 120 and is deformed to bear on the flange 134 when the tube is flared to seal it to the tube sheet, so that water flowing in the boiler contacts only copper. To facilitate replacement a tube 21, Fig. 10, has less fins at one end 23, which end is also thinner so that it may be inserted at an angle into tube sheet 28<SP>1</SP> and the standard end then be inserted into tube sheet 28.
