Abstract

1393508 Laundering article PROCTER & GAMBLE CO 3 May 1973 [3 May 1972] 21075/73 Heading C5D A laundering article comprises (1) a waterinsoluble substrate consisting of polyurethane chemically combined with at least 0À1% by weight of substrate of a polyalkyleneimine containing the moiety wherein y is 1 to 4, z is an integer greater than 1, R is hydrogen or an alkyl or alkanoyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms, R<SP>1</SP> is an alkyl group having 1 to 22 carbon atoms and X- is an anion; and (2) a water-soluble detergent composition in association with the substrate and is releasable therefrom when the article is contacted with water. The substrate is provided in order to scavenge or trap dirt and vagrant anionic dyes released during the laundering process. The substrate may be (a) in the form of a sealed cloth bag containing the detergent composition, (b) in the form of a sponge impregnated or coated with a detergent composition or (c) incorporated within a detergent composition which is in tablet form.
