Abstract

1393481 Seaming; making aerosol dispensing containers COSTER TECNOLOGIE SPECIALI SpA 6 Aug 1973 [30 Sept 1972] 37171/73 Headings B3J and B3A A device for applying and seam folding a seat 25 of a dispensing valve 26 on an aerosol dispensing container 21 comprises a cylinder 1 accommodating a movable tubular body 5, an elongated hollow body 7 movable within the tubular body 5, suction means for retaining the valve seat 25 on the end of the hollow body 7, a tube 11 movable within the hollow body 7 for effecting outward movement of seam folding means 12 projecting from the hollow body 7. The cylinder 1, a container platform 20 and a guide 22 supporting spring biased blades 23 vertically adjustable relative to the platform 20 are carried by a frame continuously rotated about a vertical axis. At a first station, the cylinder 1 is lowered by a cam to enable the hollow body 7 to grip a valve seat 25 by suction continuously applied through the tube 11. After raising the cylinder 1 to lift the seat 25 from a shoot 28, a piston 3 connected to the tube 5 is lowered within the cylinder 1 until the tube 5 contacts the guide 22, whereupon a piston 4 connected to the hollow body 7 is lowered to cause the hollow body 7 to move through the blades 23 to position the seat 25 on the container 21. A piston 9 on the end of the tube 11 is then lowered within a head 8 attached to the hollow body 7 to move seam folding fingers 12 outwardly to deform the valve seat 25.
