Flanging machine for can closures The invention relates to a flanging machine for can closures. The aim of the invention is to create a flanging machine for can closures in which unavoidable deviations, such as the sheet thickness of the can closure or the thickness of the seal, are automatically compensated for without the intervention of the worker operating the machine.
The flanging machine for can senverschlüsse, which is provided with a flanging tool, a pressure cylinder with piston and piston rod and a mandrel for spreading the flanging tool, is characterized according to the invention by a second pressure cylinder with piston and piston rod, by a receiving device for the can and attached to the piston rod an adjustable stop against which the edge of the Dosenver circuit can be brought to rest firmly before the crimping under the influence of the pressure of the second pressure cylinder.
A speed control valve connected between the pressure source and the second pressure cylinder can be used.
A gaseous or liquid substance, for example compressed air or hydraulic oil, can be used as the pressure-releasing medium for the pressure cylinder.
In the drawing, FIGS. 1 to 3 relating to the manufacture of the closure and an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention are shown in FIG.
It should first be based on FIGS. 1 to 3; the drawing with the machine according to the example to be produced can closure and its attachment to a can are shown.
Fig. 1 shows an aerosol vent as an example of such a can closure. This valve has. a beaded edge cc, in the interior of which there is a rubber-like sealing compound b shown by dashed lines. It is also provided in a known manner with a valve connector e.
F'ig. 2 shows an aerosol can which has a thickened edge c.
In Figure 3, both parts are connected by crimping. It can be seen that the aerosol valve has a bulge d he hold due to the action of a flanging tool, which rests exactly on the thickened edge c. This ensures that the closure is pulled tightly onto the can rim and thus ensures a hermetic seal
The sealing compound b is usually diluted in the flanged edge a. poured. After the solvent has evaporated, a rubber film serving as a seal then forms. It is clear that, for the purpose of tightly fitting the closure to the can edge, a certain pressure has to be applied during the crimping, but this pressure must not be so great that deformation of the can occurs.
4 shows a schematic presen- tation of a base plate 1 on which the two columns 2 are mounted. Andean pillars 2.: the yoke 3 and the top plate, 4 are attached. The yoke 3 carries the crimping tool 5, which has several slots ö like a collet, of which only one is shown in the drawing.
The crimping tool has a bead-like edge 7 at its lower end, through which the actual crimping, that is, the pressing in of the closure according to d (FIG. 3), takes place.
On the yoke 3 is also a threaded sleeve 8 with an adjustable union nut 9 attached, which forms the adjustable stop for the edge of the can closure.
On the upper plate 4, the pressure cylinder 10 with the piston 11, the piston rod 12 and the attached mandrel for spreading the Bördelwerkzeu gs 13 be fastened. Numbers 14 and 15 denote Einströmöffnimgen and Ausströmöffnimgen for the pressure-releasing medium, which in the present exemplary embodiment is compressed air. With. this can therefore be applied to both the underside and the upper side of the piston 11, so that stroke movements can take place in both directions.
It is controlled by a: foot valve, which is not shown in the drawing. If you press the foot valve, compressed air flows into the cylinder space above the piston, while the cylinder space below the piston is simultaneously vented. If you take your foot away from the foot valve, the reverse process occurs, so that the piston rises.
On the base plate 1 there is a second pressure cylinder 16 with a piston 17, a piston rod 18 and a receiving device for the can in the form of a table 19 on which the aerosol can 20 is placed. In addition, a spiral spring 2.1 and a vent hole 22 are provided in the upper cylinder space as a brake spring. The cylinder 16 is only acted upon with compressed air from below through the inflow and outflow opening 23, which is achieved by actuating one in the drawing. 24 designated button valve happens.
If the button of this valve is pressed, compressed air flows under the piston 17 and lifts it, whereby the edge of the can closure comes to rest firmly against the stop 9 before being crimped. If you let go of the button, the lower cylinder is roughly vented.
In the compressed air line 25 there is a speed regulating valve 26 between the push button valve 24 and the inflow and outflow opening 23, through which the speed of the stroke can be adjusted while the pressure is constant. This is important because, for example, tin cans allow rapid, abrupt work, while aluminum cans have to be moved much more gently to the stop to avoid deformation.
If the lower cylinder space is vented by removing the finger from the button valve 124, the piston is lowered under the action of the brake spring 21 and the weight of the weight on the piston. This brings it back to its original position.
The stop 9 (nut) is adjusted according to the masses of the closures (sheet thickness and seal thickness) and the edge of the cans so that the bulge d (Fig. 3) comes into the most favorable position for the hermetic seal through the flanging process. Manufacturing deviations in dimensions are easily compensated for by the elastically flexible arrangement of the piston 17, as a result of which incorrect flaring or permanent mechanical readjustments are avoided.
Working with the machine works. In front of you as follows: 1st cycle: Place can 20 on table 19 after the closure has been loosely attached.
2nd cycle: press button valve 24. Table 19 rises and presses the can 20 with the necessary pressure against the stop 9. 3rd cycle: actuation of the foot valve (press). Expanding mandrel 13 goes down and expands the crimping tool 5. This completes the crimping.
4th step: release foot valve and then button valve Table 19 with the finished, rolled-up can sinks back into the starting position. Expanding mandrel 13 goes up.
5th cycle: Remove can from table 19. Cycle ended.
It is clear that these simple processes can be designed with the aid of known control and transport means so that they can be crimped without any involvement of human workers.
