1393344 Pneumatic conveyers SPETSIALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO TRANSNEFTAVTOMATIKA 21 June 1973 29468/73 Heading B8A Material is conveyed through a system of pipes by suction to material receivers associated with briquetting devices; on transmission of signals indicating that the briquette formed is of the required compactness and that a train of containers is positioned beneath the briquetting devices, power-operated covers closing unloading ports of the briquetting devices are opened and power-operated ejectors discharge the briquettes to the containers, which are then conveyed by air pressure differential along a pipeline to an unloading station. In the figure, material, e.g. domestic refuse, arrives at receiver 7 and falls into chamber 25. Piston 27 moved by hydraulic cylinder 28 compacts the material into chamber 43, cover plate 35 co-operating with edge 39 of the receiver and plate 31 of the piston to isolate the material from receiver 7. Piston 42 of ejector 40 is provided with a briquette-density transmitter which emits a signal to a control unit when the required density is achieved. On reception of this signal and that from transmitter 54 indicating that containers are positioned beneath the ejectors, a control unit actuates cylinder 49 to open cover 47 and then actuates cylinder 44 to eject the briquette into container 13. The loading ports 46 of the station are closed and sealed before the train of containers is moved by air pressure differential through a pipeline to a distant unloading station (e.g. at a refuse processing site).
