Abstract

1393341 Reserve cells SILBERKRAFT LEICHTAKKUMULATOREN GmbH 26 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 14501/73 Heading H1B A gas-tight button reserve cell comprises a metallic cup 1 and a metallic cap 4 having slits 6 or other such perforations therein, cap 4 being joined to cup 1 through insulating member 20, precharged electrodes 8, electrically connected to cup 1, and 11, connected to cap 4, separated by separators 9, an electrolyte filled vessel 13 disposed above cap 4 and a diaphragm 18 covering vessel 13. Pressure on diaphragm 18 ruptures vessel 13 permitting electrolyte to flow in to the cell through slits 6, and to this end vessel 13, preferably of plastics material, may be thinner at its bottom part. Diaphragm 18, as shown reinforced by disc 22 is preferably metal so as to function as a terminal. Electrode 8 may be positive and comprise silver oxide, silver chloride, copper oxide, copper chloride or lead peroxide. Electrode 11 may be zinc, lead or magnesium. A battery of such cells may be constructed with means for depressing each diaphragm as in Specification 1,393,342.
