Abstract
1393284 Epoxides AKADEMIE DER WISSENSCHAFTEN DER DDR 24 July 1972 34498/72 Heading C2C [Also in Division B1] Epoxides are prepared from straight-chained, branched or cyclic compounds containing one or more olefinic double bonds by reacting them with organic hydroperoxides at 0-200‹ C. in an insoluble catalyst consisting of (a) molybdenum oxide with (b) at least one oxide of tin, phosphorus, arsenic, antimony, bismuth, selenium and tellurium (but excluding mixtures of molybdenum and bismuth oxides and of molybdenum and phosphorus oxides) the mol. ratio of (a) to (b) being 1 : 5 to 5 : 1. If desired the molybdenum oxide may be partially replaced by vanadium and/or tungsten oxide and the catalyst may be applied to a carrier. The preferred hydroperoxides are aralkyl and tertiary-alkyl hydroperoxides. Examples describe the preparation of n-decene-1,2-oxide; n-octene-1,2-oxide; n-tetradecene- 1,2-oxide; cyclohexene oxide; dicyclopentadiene monoepoxide and diepoxide; octene-2,3-oxide; propylene oxide; isohexene oxide and isododecene oxide.
