Abstract

1393203 Sound insulating blocks ASHAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 26 Jan 1973 [26 Jan 1972 (2) 29 Feb 1972] 3998/73 Heading E1B A sound insulating block comprises a U- section concrete block 3 and a U-section perforated cover 4 interfitted to define a cavity which houses a sound insulating plate 1. The cover is preferably metal but may be asbestos cement. The elements are built up into walls with reinforcing rods and grout in channels 10, 11, 21 and 23. In a modification flanges 8a and 8b are extended to form a continuous wall. In a further modification the front face of the cover is parallel to the rear face of the block. The insulating plate may be mineral fibres or glass wool.
