Abstract
1393086 Dehydrogenation IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 25 April 1972 [9 June 1971] 19666/71 Heading C2C [Also in Divisions B1 and C5] Pyridine is made by dehydrogenating piperidine in the presence of a catalyst made by impregnating silica gel with a solution, free from undissolved matter, of a palladium compound in a volatile chlorinated hydrocarbon to give silica gel impregnated with the palladium compound, drying the impregnate and reducing the palladium to free metal, and of hydrogen at 350‹ C. and atmospheric pressure. Pyrrole is similarly made from pyrrolidine.
