Abstract

1392890 Sealing device for web treatment chamber KLEINEWEFERS INDUSTRIE-CO GmbH 23 Nov 1973 [23 Nov 1972] 54529/73 Addition to 1328930 Heading D1L The sealing device of the parent Specification which comprises an endless elastic sealing strip 18 co-operating with a draw roller 6, the strip being mounted on a rigid hood 11 which extends over the length of the roller, is modified by the provision of at least one further hood 11' which forms one wall (or a part of one wall) of a chamber 24 intermediate the web treatment chamber 20 and the atmosphere. As illustrated the further hood 11' and an associated sealing strip 18' preferably disposed in mirror image configuration with the hood 11 and strip 18' on opposite sides of a median plane M of the draw roller 6. The chamber 24 thus formed may be heated, cooled or evacuated by means of inlet and/or outlet 25. If desired more than one intermediate chamber may be formed between the treatment chamber and the atmosphere by providing a plurality of spaced draw rollers each with an associated sealing strip and rigid wood (Fig. 3, not shown). The pressure prevailing in each of these intermediate chambers may be such that it increases or decreases gradually in the direction of web travel.
