Abstract

1391948 Electromedical apparatus JEN RICHALET 6 July 1972 [6 July 1971] 31742/72 Heading G1N Physiological variables of an ambulatory subject are detected by pick-ups 1 mounted on a device worn by the subject, the resultant signals being transmitted via a radio transmitter 3 to a receiving system II which may be carried by the subject and which includes a receiver 4, a processing and decision unit 5, and a miniature magnetic recorder 6, e.g. a cassette, which records the signals when determined by the unit 5, the recorder 6 being subsequently removed and its data read by a data transcription unit 7 located at a permanent station, the information being displayed at 8. The device worn by the subject may include a belt for the waist, and has incorporated therein amplifiers, filters, multiplexing arrangements, modulators, the radio transmitter and aerial, and a device for manually triggering the recorder. The receiver 4 includes an aerial, amplifier and demodulators, and the unit 5 utilizes a clock and a programme card, which is selected by the clinician, to control triggering of the recorder and to record the date of commencement and/or termination of recording. A discriminator may also be included to distinguish between voluntary or automatic recording. The recorder 6 includes a modulating and amplifying writing unit designed to permit recording in the magnetic recorder. The data transcription unit 7 at the permanent station includes a reading device designed to restore, in accelerated or non-accelerated time, the variables recorded together with the date and the automatic or manual nature. The display device may be an X(t) multi-track graphic recorder, an X.Y graphic recorder, a voltmeter having an analogue or numerical display or an oscilloscope having an analogue or numerical display. The transcription unit may be designed to process a plurality of systems and may include a numerical computer.
