1391647 Counting apparatus H T GOLDE GmbH 7 July 1972 [15 July 1971] 31956/72 Heading G4D [Also in Division F2] A device for limiting the number of revolutions that a shaft 1 can make comprises an eccentric 15 rigid with the shaft and turning within an inner gear-ring 17 which co-operates with an outer gear-ring 18 and with a stop 20, the inner ring 17 having one less tooth than the outer so that for each revolution of the shaft the gear ring 17 rotates through an angle of one tooth in the opposite direction until, after a determined number of revolutions, one end 25 or 26 of a ridge 27 on ring 17 engages with a stop 20 to arrest the gear ring and therefore the shaft. Two alternative stops 20 are provided on a slide 21 movable, by a lever arrangement 34-38 between two end positions determined by a locating spring 33, to place one or other of the stops 20 into the path of ridge 27. This arrangement allows nearly one revolution of ring 17 but with a fixed intermediate stop, so the device can be used to control a two stage operation such as the opening of a sliding roof of a car.
