1391619 Evaporative cooling systems; steam generators VSESOJUZNY NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY I PROEKTNY INSTITUT PO OCHISTKE TEKHNOLOGICHESKIKH GAZOV STOCHNYKH VOD I ISPOLZOVANIJU VTORICHNYKH ENERGORESURSOV PREDPRIYATY CHERNOI METALLURGII "VNIPICHERMETENERGOOCHISTKA" 25 July 1972 34697/72 Headings F4U and F4A Apparatus for the evaporative cooling of metallurgical units 1 comprises at least one closed circulation loop consisting of the units 1, a water inlet pipe 2, a steam-water mixture outlet pipe 3 and a steam separator 4. A water storage vessel 5 for storing chemically purified de-aerated water communicates with both a water supply (not shown) via a pipeline 6 and feed conduit 13; and with an ejector pump 8 mounted in a pipeline 7 in communication with the pipeline 2. The ejector pump 8 is for delivering replacement water from the vessel 5 to the pipeline 2 of the closed circulation loop. The steam separator 4 communicates with vessel 5 via a pipeline 9 which is designed to equalize the pressure in the vessel 5 and in the circulation loop. A pipeline 10 discharges steam from the separator 4 into a main steam pipe. A pipeline 12 feeds water into the circulation loop at the beginning of the operating cycle and pipeline 13 continuously delivers the replacement water to the vessel 5 during operation. Pipelines 14 and 15 respectively feed and discharge service water when required for cooling purposes during maintenance. A regulator 16 is arranged to maintain the water level in the vessel 5 constant.
