Abstract

1391575 Surgical syringes P MASSY 19 Feb 1973 [17 Feb 1972] 8128/73 Heading A5R [Also in Division Fl] A medical injection apparatus comprises a syringe 1g mounted on a frame, means for moving the piston 1t of the syringe 1g, a constant torque electric motor 15 having an excitation circuit to be supplied with a constant DC voltage and an armature circuit to be supplied so as to vary the speed of the motor 15 which is connected by transmission means 8-13 to the piston moving means, the transmission means 8-13 including a nut 8 and a threaded member 9 interengaged by ball bearings, and an electrical circuit 16 for controlling the motor 15 for operating the syringe 1g according to a predetermined program, the circuit 16 including switches for supplying the motor 15 with a constant DC excitation voltage and with an armature voltage dependent on means for regulating the motor speed, the motor 15 being provided with an electromagnetic brake. In a preferred embodiment two syringes 1g, (1d) Fig. 1, (not shown) are mounted on a box (2) and each syringe has its own transmission means. The circuit 16 includes timing devices which may provide a delay between the operation of the syringes 1g, (1d) and control the duration of an injection from 0.1 to 0.9 seconds or from 1 to 9 seconds. A resistor 2c is used to heat the syringes to body temperature before injection.
