Abstract

1391245 Automatic electric control SIEMENS AG 29 June 1973 [29 June 1972] 31240/73 Heading G3N A control arrangement for a crane for maintaining a constant hook 4 height comprises two sensors 13, 12 respectively sensing angular travel of the crane jib 1 and length of rope 2 paid out by hoist driving motor 5, two stores 16, 17 storing respectively actual values of pay-out of the rope and of the movement of the jib; switching means 15 operable to connect the two sensors to the stores or to disconnect the sensors from the stores to maintain predetermined values therein; and a controller 14 which combines the actual and stored values of the two sensed parameters and acts in response to a non-zero input to release the brake of the hoist unit whereby for an increase in angle of the jib the rope is paid out to maintain the desired hook height as determined by the difference between the stored and actual values. Amplifier 18 matches the angle-indicative output signals of sensor 13 and store 17 to length-indicative signals as provided by sensor 12 and store 16.
