1391099 Container covers; freight containers P J STORROW and C P SCARSI 5 Dec 1973 [6 Sept 1972] 41348/72 Heading B8Q and B8P [Also in Division B7] A container or road or rail vehicle body has a platform 10 on a sub chassis 7-10, Fig. 2, with a first track 11 along each longitudinal side and a sliding preferably detachable cover 5 having a second track 19 along each longitudinal side so as to be movable to position 5a or 5b to facilitate loading of the platform. A carriage 16 having rollers 18 runs on the first track while the second track runs between the rollers so that the carriage can be extended from either end of the track 11 to provide a support for the second track 19 to be moved to position 5a or 5b, the side 20 of the cover 5 being attached to the truck 19 to move therewith. Stops limit the extension of the carriage 16 and of the tracks 19 relative thereto. In a modified track construction, Fig. 5, each U-shaped carriage 16<SP>1</SP> runs by rollers 25 on an L-shaped track 11<SP>1</SP> while a similarly U-shaped second track 21<SP>1</SP> runs by rollers 26 on the top of the carriage 16<SP>1</SP>. Retaining rollers 27, 28 on the carriage 16<SP>1</SP> and track 11<SP>1</SP> prevent relative tipping of the tracks and carriage when in the extended position. (For Figure 1 see next page.)
