1391026 Making gear wheels; welding by fusion HURTH VERWALTUNGS GmbH 8 May 1973 [30 May 1972 16 June 1972] 21864/73 Headings B3A and B3R [Also in Division F2] A gear wheel comprising a hub 1 on which is fitted (e.g. by a light interference fit), an externally toothed rim 2 of rectangular cross-section whose radial depth 7 is between 0À5 and 3À5 times the module of the teeth, the hub 1 having (e.g. three), recesses 4 of an axial depth 5 at least 75% (e.g. 80%), the axial thickness 5 of the gear and with a thickness 11 adjacent the rim of 0À5 to 1-5 times the tooth module, at the recesses, the rim 2 being welded on to the hub at at least one side, by a high energy (e.g. electron beam), weld with a penetration 13 of at least five times its maximum width.
