Abstract

1390900 Test strips BOEHRINGER MANNHEIM GmbH 16 July 1973 [18 July 1972] 33731/73 Heading G1B A test strip for the detection of peroxidateactive substances in body fluids comprises a carrier containing a hydroperoxide, at least one chromogen and, as actuator, a compound of general formula wherein R 1 is a hydrogen atom or methyl radical and benzene and/or pyridine rings are fused to at least one of the positions indicated with c, (d, e), f and g, provided that two adjacent rings must not simultaneously contain a cyclic nitrogen atom, and wherein the activator compound can be substituted, other than in the positions indicated by H and R 1 , by lower alkyl radicals, two of which together can also form an alkylene bridge containing 3 or 4 carbon atoms. The carrier may be an absorbent material impregnated with the reagents, or a waterstable film with the reagents incorporated therein. Other materials that may be present are a buffer, a chelating agent, a thickener, a wetting agent and a stabilizer. The test strip is particularly useful in the colorimetric detection of blood in body fluids.
