Abstract

1390629 Controlling kilns CIMENTS LAFARGE 24 Nov 1972 [8 Dec 1971] 54350/72 Heading F4B [Also in Division G1] In the control of a kiln for heat treatment of a product containing free lime, part of the product is crushed and measured quantities by volume of the crushed product are mixed with a reagent in apparatus having an electrode at which a signal proportional to the amount of free lime is obtained, and this signal is utilized to control at least one operating parameter of the kiln. The samples of crushed product are measured by apparatus described in Specification 1,379,146, and the analytic apparatus comprises a container to which the sample is fed with a controlled amount of glycol and maintained at a constant temperature. Samples may be analysed four times an hour, and the signals fed to a computer.
