1390584 Measuring phase TSENTRALNOE KONSTRUKTORSKOE BJURO UNIKALNOGO PRIBOROSTROENIA 15 Aug 1973 38591/73 Heading G1U The phase ° of a signal of the form Usin (wt + °) produced by a system 1 under test in response to the application thereto of an ultra low frequency reference signal sinwt, from an electro-mechanical generator 11, is measured by an arrangement including a rotary transformer 7 having a rotor driven at an angular speed of w by the electro-mechanical generator 11 and a stator driven by a servomotor 14, the rotor windings 12, 16, receiving signals Usin (wt + #) Sin#t and Ucos(wt + #)sin#t from modulators 5, 8, and inducing a signal Usin#t sin (# - # f ) on a stator winding 12, where # f is the angular position of the stator, which signal is used to drive the servomotor 14, via an amplifier 13, until the signal is reduced to zero, whereupon the angular position # f of the stator equals the unknown phase # and is indicated on a device 19. The signal induced in the other stator winding 16, namely Usin#t, can be displayed on a device 18 via a switch 17, or alternately the device 18 can be connected to either of the stator windings 23, 24 of a second transformer 15, also having its stator driven by the servomotor 14, to display either Usin#tcos # or Usin#tsin #.
