Abstract

1390478 Knotting apparatus PALITEX PROJECT-CO GmbH 5 Sept 1973 [2 April 1973] 41765/73 Heading D1C In a knotting device for a twisting machine or yarn spooler, an elongated flexible member 13 is coiled round the drive shaft 11 of the knotting means and is attached at one end to a movable part 15 of a thrust device 14 and, at the other end to a resetting device which tensions it. A service carriage runs on the frame of a double twisting machine and carries a knotting device level with the thread feed tube 9 of a double twisting spindle 10. Member 13, e.g. of plastics or leather and of circular cross-section is connected to the rod 15 of a pneumatically operated piston in a cylinder 14 and a tension spring 16 attached to carriage 4. During knotting, yarn ends are placed between metal pieces 26, 27 and lever 20 is moved upwards so that air under pres- sure is fed to cylinder 14 and a stop pin 24 is released from a notch 29 in a cam wheel 25. Thus member 13 is pulled down and shaft 11 is rotated until pin 14 again engages notch 29 when cylinder 14 is vented. Rod 15 is retracted and spring 16 pulls member 13 back and in the absence of any tension in the member, shaft 11 is not rotated. A doubleacting cylinder may be used so that rod 15 is returned positively by compressed air.
