Abstract

1390458 Remote control receivers COMPTEURS SCHLUMBERGER 22 March 1972 [22 March 1971] 13401/72 Heading G4H A receiving relay of the type used in centralized remote control systems for receiving in synchronization a telegram formed by pulses produced by modulating a carrier and superimposed on a mains distribution network, comprises a vibrating reed frequency selector, two decoding cams driven at different speeds, and a cam-operated switch. As disclosed, the relay comprises a vibrating reed frequency selector 16 tuned to the carrier for detecting the pulses of the telegram, a trip lever 34 which closes contacts 11a, 11b in response to detection of the first (starting) pulse to start a motor 10, a primary decoding cam 60 having a track shaped in the image of the telegram driven by the motor 10 so that its track rotates in synchronization with the telegram, at least two secondary decoding cams 40, 45 coupled to each other and driven by motor 10 at a multiple of the speed of the primary cam 60, each secondary cam having two tripping portions 42, 44 or 46, 48 spaced apart by an angle corresponding to the time separating two order pulses after the interval of time reserved for the first pulse, at least one of the secondary decoding cams 40, 45 having two feeler levers 51, 52 or 53, 54 controlled by the tripping portions to execute "close" and "open" orders respectively by means of a bossed cam 58 or 59 respective to the secondary decoding cam 40 or 45, a common catch 57, 57<SP>1</SP>, 57<SP>11</SP>, 57<SP>111</SP> locking the feeler levers in the absence of pulses and unlocking them in the presence of order pulses whereby when one of the tripping portions of a secondary decoding cam presents itself to its corresponding feeler lever in synchronization with an order pulse, that feeler lever is actuated by the tripping portion to make its bossed cam actuate control contacts 8a, 8b or 9a, 9b. The frequency selector 16 actuates the trip lever 34 via a pawl 20, a ratchet wheel or friction wheel 22, an Oldham coupling 25, a gear train 26, an edge 27b of a cam 27, and a crank 32 on a disc 33, in response to the starting pulse of the telegram, a pin 62 on the trip lever 34 moving up through a gap 60a in the primary decoding cam 60. Cam 60 also has a gap 61 corresponding in position to the order pulse. If the relay is required to respond to a long starting pulse and not to a short starting pulse, a further pin is provided on trip lever 34 which in the case of a short starting pulse gets trapped within a curved surface provided on a cam 38. Cam 38 also serves to reset contact 11b. Contacts 12a, 12b actuated by a cam 39 provide an additional energization path for the motor 10. Contacts 15a, 15b controlled by cam 60 short-circuit the winding 14 of the frequency selector 16 except at gaps, e.g. 60b, corresponding to the starting and order pulses. The feeler levers 51, 52 or 53, 54 control their respective bossed cam 58 or 59 via axial teeth on the cams and levers, a spring 43 permitting axial movement. The cams 40, 45 can have their respective tripping portions 42, 44 and 46, 48 in phase or not according as a pin 41 engages a hole 49 or 50.
