Abstract

1390077 Printing apparatus CASIO COMPUTER CO Ltd 18 April 1972 [20 April 1971] 17819/72 Heading G4H Each word fed to a printing mechanism 20 from a keyboard 11 is only printed after the detection by a control unit 21 of a succeeding "space", "tabulation" or "carriage return" signal so as to allow for the correction of keyboard errors. Each word is fed in a seven-bit code to circulating shaft registers 15, 16 and 13; when the first character of the word appears in register 13 it is also fed to another register 18. When, e.g. a space signal is entered via the keyboard 11, it is detected by unit 21 which causes register 10 to transmit the first character to a driving circuit 19 for printing; this character having meanwhile reappeared in register 13, unit 21 sends an inhibiting signal to gate 14 so that it is cleared from the registers. This procedure is repeated for each subsequent character of the word, and for the space signal. Any further words which may have been entered are then printed in their turn when their respective space, tab or return signals are detected.
