1390026 Fire resistant compositions TBA INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTS Ltd 7 June 1972 [15 June 1971] 27986/71 Headings C3P and C3R Fire resistant moulding materials comprise (1) 40 to 90 weight per cent of a thermoplastic polymer, (2) 5 to 40 weight per cent of chrysotile asbestos fibres and (3) 2À5 to 20 weight per cent of a fire retardant additive selected from one or more of halogenated hydrocarbons, antimony oxide and compounds of boron or phosphorus. The polymer may be an olefin or styrene polymer or polyamide. Examples describe compositions comprising chrysotile asbestos, decabromodiphenyl, antimony trioxide and (1) polypropylene, (2) polyethylene, (3) polystyrene, (4) styrene/acrylonitrile copolymer and (5) nylon 6.
