Abstract
1389792 Making vane wheels NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 9 July 1973 [11 July 1972] 32603/73 Heading B3A [Also in Divisions F2 and F1] A vane wheel for a hydrodynamic torque converter is formed by stamping from sheet metal a plurality of blades each having a blade portion 17 and a core ring portion 18 interconnected by an enlarged or offset portion 22, the blades being secured to an outer shell (21) and having the ends of the core ring portion 18 engaging in the enlarged or offset portions 22 of adjacent blades. As shown, tabs 19 integral with the blades 17 pass through slots 20 in the outer shell and are bent over to secure the blades to the shell. In Figs. 5-7 (not shown) the ends of the core ring portions of the blades are flared outwardly. In Figs. 8-12 (not shown) the blades are projection welded to the outer shell. In Figs. 13-16 (not shown) the blades are secured to the outer shell by an outer slotted ring (41) secured to the outer shell and an inner ring (44) having lugs 43 which engage the inner ends of the blades. In Figs. 17-19 (not shown) the blades are secured to the outer shell by flanges (47) integral with the blades being brazed to the outer shell.
