Abstract

1389591 Inflatable escape apparatus MITSUBISHI DENKI KK 19 Oct 1972 [19 Oct 1971 22 Feb 1972 31 May 1972 (2)] 48239/72 Headings B7A and B7J In an inflatable escape slideway apparatus of the type described and claimed in Specification 1,172,267, the lower portion of the helical balloon 16 has convolutions which gradually increase in diameter downwardly to permit contraction and expansion of the slide unit in response to changes in the distance between the float unit B and the upper end of the slide unit A. In the lower portion of the slide unit A the inner and outer collapsible tubular members 10, 12 may be assisted in collapsing in bellows formation by, e.g. elastic cords attached to their surfaces. In a modification, the lower parts of the inner and outer members 10, 12 may define between them a spiral space in which the helical balloon 16 is received. A double-helix arrangement may be used for greater escape capacity.
