Abstract

1389563 Retreading tyres KENTREDDER Ltd 2 Feb 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 4903/72 Heading B7C [Also in Division B5] In a method of retreading- tyres, an unvulcanised tread band B is placed in a mould 1, a tyre carcase C is superimposed on the band, the mould interior is placed under vacuum and pressure is applied to the carcase, the vacuum being maintained until a bond between the band and carcase is completed. An air bag 8 applies pressure to the carcase. The mould interior is sealed by plates and rings 4 and 5 respectively and connected to a vacuum pump by a pipe 12. Alternatively a prevulcanized tread band is placed in the mould and bonding material is applied either to its inner surface or to the carcase.
