Abstract

In Vulcanising profiled vulcanised treads on to pneumatic tyres, the profile cavities are subjected, at the beginning of the vulcanising process, to gaseous or liquid pressure which is slightly below the pressure prevailing outside the sheath. The tread and a vulcanisable binding plate are placed on the tyre and covered with an annular rubber or synthetic layer and sealed off, any gas present being sucked or pressed out. The assembly is then put into a pressure vessel where it is heated to the temperature necessary to vulcanise the binder plate. Deformation and displacements are prevented which could result from differential pressure.
