1388796 Diagnostic agent PHARMACIA AB 20 July 1973 [21 July 1972] 34666/73 Heading A5B A diagnostic preparation facilitating examination of body cavities by optical methods comprises an aqueous solution containing 15 to 45% by weight, based on the total volume of the solution of dextran having an average molecular weight of from 10,000 to 200,000 and 5 to 20% w/v of one or more additional substances selected from physiologically tolerable monosaccharides, oligosaccharides and sugar alcohols such as glucose, fructose, invert sugar, maltose, saccharose, sorbitol and/or mannitol. The preparation may also contain an anti-bacterial agent such as an antibiotic, sulpha preparation, hexachlorophene or parahydroxybenzoic acid ester, and/or an electrolyte salt such as sodium chloride, acetate or lactate.
