Abstract
1388727 Steam traps GESTRA-KSB VERTRIEBSGESELLSCHAFT mbH & CO KG 12 Dec 1972 [24 Dec 1971] 57349/72 Heading F4U [Also in Division F2] In a float-controlled valve for discharging condensate from a steam trap comprising a closure member 10 co-operable with a valve seat 9 and connected to a float 7 by a rod 6 and lever 8, the closure member is connected to a piston 12 which defines a chamber 21 in which the pressure is equal to that in the float chamber when the valve is closed but which, upon opening of the valve, is immediately reduced to outlet pressure to effect a quick opening of the valve. A passageway 20 connects the chamber 21 to an annular opening 18 adjacent the valve seat. Fluid is able to flow into chamber 21 through throttle gaps 13, 15 alongside to piston and the rod respectively.
